Board Reviews Facility Committee Final Report

1,000 additional students expected by 2020

August 13, 2007

At its regularly scheduled August 9, 2007 meeting, the Meridian CUSD #223 School Board heard the final report from the Facility and Long Range Planning Committee.  The report includes a recommendation for facilities which includes a fifth district building in addition to remodeling and upgrades of existing facilities.  The committee also reported on two other options for additional facilities.  The Facility Committee met for over 1 1/2 years and conducted three community meeting in March of 2007 to review a preliminary recommendation with the district's residents. The construction of a fifth building and remodeling would require a referendum vote, which could occur as early as February 5, 2008.  The School Board is reviewing the report and is planning to discuss it further at its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, September 12, 2007.  That meeting will be held at Monroe Center School.  Attached is the final report provided by the committee.
