School Board Passes 2007 Tax Levy

At its regularly scheduled meeting on December 20, 2007, the Meridian CUSD #223 passed the 2007 property tax levy. The Board conducted a public hearing for the levy prior to the meeting. The levy was based on projections that the assessed value of the school district increased just over 10% from the previous year. The 10% increase was founded primarily on new construction and increased assessments of existing homes. Although calculations to determine the school tax rate won't be final until the spring, it is anticipated that the rate will remain in the are of $4.75/per $100 of assess value.
