School Board Recognizes SVHS State Scholars
16 Seniors Honored

At its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, January 10, 2008, the Meridian School Board formally recognized 16 SVHS seniors who earned the designation of 2008 Illinois State Scholar.
Only the top 10% of the state’s approximate 140,000 graduating seniors qualified for this distinction which is based on a combination of the ACT test score and class rank at the end of the junior year. While the program does not provide a monetary award, being named a State Scholar is an impressive honor that can be listed on applications for college admission and scholarships. Each State Scholar will received a certificate from the School District for this accomplishment.
On behalf of the School Board, Superintendent Bob Prusator expressed appreciation for the support of the students' parents and the effort of the students themselves in earning the designation of Illinois State Scholar. Mr. Prusator relayed that the honor is one of the most prestigious available for SVHS students. The following SVHS students were recognized:
