The Meridian Junior High School was recently notified that it has earned the designation of 2007 Honor Roll School by the Illinois State Board of Education. To earn an Academic Improvement Honor Roll Award, a school must have made significant academic improvement by either:

  • showing an improvement of at least 7.5 points in state test scores in both reading and mathematics between 2006 and 2007, or

  • showed an upward trend in state test results

The following is from the ISBE regarding the award:

The 2007 Academic Improvement Awards honor 607 schools for substantial gains in performance over the last several years. The award winners range across all levels, from schools where 32% of students are meeting the Illinois Learning Standards to schools where 100% of students are meeting standards.

Located throughout the state, the award winners represent every type of school - large and small; elementary, middle, and high schools; both regular and charter schools; all funding levels; urban, suburban, and rural; low performing and high performing. They demonstrate that exemplary progress is possible at every level and can be sustained.
