School Board Schedules Community Focus Groups
Session will be held on April 3rd at SVHS
March 05, 2008
At its regularly scheduled meeting on February 28, 2008, the Meridian School Board finalized plans for a community focus group session which will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Stillman Valley High School at 7:00 p.m.. At the meeting, Dr. Brad Hawk, Superintendent of the Burlington Central School District, assisted the School Board in preparation for the session. Dr. Hawk has utilized focus groups at Burlington Central for the purpose of engaging the community in the process of improving the school district.
This is the first focus group session conducted in the Meridian School District. Approximately 70 community members will be invited to participate. Each School Board member and administrator are inviting five community members which should reflect a cross section of the communities.
The purpose of the focus group session is to accomplish three goals:
1) Provide factual information related to the School District, including performance levels, financial status and the present organizational long range vision.
2) Provide an opportunity for small group discussion. Seven groups will be utilized with one School Board member and two administrators assigned to each group. Each group will be asked to respond to the following questions: What are you proud of in Meridian CUSD #223; What concerns do you have?; What recommendations do you have for the School District?; How are we doing in regard to organizational trust?
3) Provide the Board, Administration and District Leadership Team a better understanding of the participating community members' perspectives of the School District.
Further questions regarding the focus groups can be directed to Bob Prusator, Superintendent at (815) 645-2606.
