8th Grade End Of The Year Information
Promotion Ceremony & Dance **Note Change of Location
Eligibility must be met to participate
April 15, 2008
The end of the 2007-08 school year is quickly approaching. This letter is to inform 8th grade parents of some important dates, events, and expectations regarding the end of the year.
8th Grade Promotion Ceremony: Tuesday May 27 at 1:30 p.m.
On
the last full day of school there will be a promotion ceremony for
all 8th grade students. In order to be eligible
to participate in the promotion ceremony a student must be in good
academic standing which means he/she must be passing all classes
for the entire year, not just the quarter. Space is
very limited so we encourage only parents and grandparents to
attend. This will be the last day of attendance for 8th
graders. Report cards will not be handed out at this
time. If you wish to have your report card mailed to you,
please bring a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the
office. Otherwise, report cards will be available after May
30 in the office.
8th Grade Dance: Wednesday May 28 from 7–9 p.m.
The dance has
been relocated to Stone Quarry Park in Byron.
There is a
private room that we will be using. The date is still
Wednesday, May 28.
Student council
is sponsoring a dinner prior to the dance at no charge to the
students.
Dinner will be
served from 6:15 – 6:45 p.m. It will be chicken strips,
mostacoli, salad, and pizza.
If
students do not want to come for dinner, they should arrive no
earlier than 7:00 p.m. Parents are invited to attend the last
15 minutes of the dance from 8:45 – 9:00 p.m.
Students who
are attending the dinner MUST sign up no later than May
16.
Please sign and
return to your homeroom teacher the bottom of this note. If a
student does not sign up for dinner, he/she will not be allowed to
enter before 7:00 p.m.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Timm. You may email ctimm@mail.meridian223.org or call 645-2277.
Eligibility:
In
order to be eligible to attend the dance, students must be in good
academic and behavior standing. Good academic standing means
passing all classes for the entire year, not just the
quarter. Good behavior standing means no more than one
classroom behavior detention, no suspensions, or no Saturday school
detentions. The window of time for good behavior and
participation in the 8th grade dance begins on April 21 and ends
May 28.
