Meridian Junior High Announcements

Week of 11/17/2008

Food Drive:  Rachel's Challenge would like to say THANK YOU to all that donated items to the food drive.  We collected over 200 items.  All items will be donated to The Bread Of Life. The homeroom that brought in the most items was Mrs. Lundine's.  GREAT JOB.

Book Fair:  Monday December 1 - Thursday December 4th.  Open 8:15 - 4:00 each day that week.  Students will visit the book fair during their reading classes and are welcome to make purchases anytime during or after their visit. (Cash, check, or credit card with parental note is accepted.) Parents are also welcome to come shop anytime. This is also a great opportunity for Christmas shopping. There will be a wide variety of popular Jr. High age books to choose from as well as some children's books and cook books/adult books if students want to do Christmas shopping.
We really want to raise our sales 10% from last year. If we accomplish this goal, teachers have agreed to participate in a trivia bowl against the students "Are you Smarter than a Jr. High Student?"
All profits benefit the Jr. High Library.Thank you for your support!

Rachel's Challenge: Congratulations to the following students for being recognized in October for the Kindness Connects Us All Project. These students were recognized for demonstrating RESPECT. Brandon Anderson, Michael Bower, Alissa Castle, Clay Duffy, Janet Hernandez, Taylor Hensen, Josh Hicks, Andrew Mandzen, Aaron Pagles, Chelsea Smith, Maddie Vetter, Nicole Voth. Their names will be added to the chain.

Kindness Connects Us All:  Rachel's Challenge would also like to invite you to participate in the November "Kindness Connects Us All" project. It's simple, Mrs. Miller has forms in her office just inside my door on the brown bookcase. Describe briefly an act of kindness that someone did showing that they are a very CARING person. Teachers and students are asked to participate in recognizing how CARING our students and staff are. Since our act of kindness for November focuses on CARING, students will receive a locker tag and their name will be added to the chain.
