3rd Quarter Incentive
March 9, 2012   9th hour

Criteria:  No more than 3 lates in ALL classes combined for the quarter

Criteria Dates:  Tuesday, January 17- March 7

BOOK CLUB:  Independent Silent Reading is being held in Mrs. Stewart's Classroom (room 214) for those interested.  It is during lunch on Monday's and Friday's.  Everyone is welcome.

We wanted to take just a moment to send out some reminders for both students and parents.

• Please check your student’s agenda EVERY night for homework assignments and any notes from teachers.  We have a time built into the end of our school day where students are asked to write down all assignments.  Please help us encourage the use of this important tool.

• You are encouraged to check your student’s daily homework assignments and grades on-line.  Please go to www.meridian223.org and click on the red Family Access button.  Homework should be listed under the message center by each teacher.  If you are having trouble, please contact our school office.

• Please encourage your student to complete assignments on time and prepare for tests and quizzes on a nightly basis.  Many teachers provide “study guides” well in advance to allow students ample time to learn the material.  Reviewing as they go will eliminate the need to “cram” it all in the night before.

• Our middle school expectations are simple; 1.  Respect everyone, 2.  Respect Education, and 3. Respect Environment.  The PBIS System rewards students for adhering to these expectations.  The students earn Bird Bucks for responsible behavior and are able to spend these at the PBIS store or use them for the weekly drawing.  Please view the PBIS page on the school’s website for questions regarding this policy.

• If you have any questions at any time, please contact us by e-mail (see handbook or district website for addresses) or by phone (645-2277).

We look forward to working with you to continue what has been a great start to your student’s first year here at Meridian Junior High School.

PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System) Reminders:  Students can only use cell phones and wear hats after school hours.  Also, gum can only be chewed outside of school not in the building.  As with warm weather, this is a reminder to keep in mind the dress code.  Shorts must be finger tip length and tops must have cap sleeves on the shoulder.  It is air conditioned in the 6th grade wing so students should be comfortable with the warmer weather.  If you have any questions about the PBIS reminders, please contact a teacher.
