School Board Hosting Community Focus Group
Additional Participants needed for October 20th Session
October 13, 2008
The Meridian CUSD #223 School Board is hosting a Community Focus Group Session on Monday, October 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Stillman Valley High School. Board members and administrators have invited approximately 70 community members to provide their perspectives on the School District.
The purpose of the focus group session is to accomplish three goals:
1) Provide factual information related to the School District, including performance levels, financial status and the present organizational long range vision.
2) Provide an opportunity for small group discussion. Seven groups will be utilized with one School Board member and two administrators assigned to each group. Each group will be asked to respond to the questions regarding the School District.
3) Provide the Board, Administration and District Leadership Team a better understanding of the participating community members' perspectives of the School District.
The Meridian School Board believes very strongly in community engagement to improve the School District for its students. The Community Focus Group format provides for meaningful feedback and suggestions for improvement. The School Board conducted its first focus group session on April 3, 2008 and used the community's feedback to assist in establishing the 2008-2008 District Improvement Plan
Because several community members invited by the School Board and administrators are not able to attend, the School Board would like to fill those spots by open invitation. Interested community members will be selected on a first come, first served basis until the spots are filled. If a community member is interested and able to attend, please contact Board Secretary, Donna Fruin, at (815) 645-2606.
