Board Adopts Resolution Opposing Byron Withdrawal from OCEC

Student programming and finances would be negatively impacted

February 27, 2009

At its regularly scheduled meeting on February 26, 2009, the Meridian School Board adopted a formal resolution opposing the Byron School District's withdrawal from the Ogle County Educational Cooperative (OCEC).  Byron's withdrawal would result in programmatic and financial hardship for the Meridian School District and other Ogle County school districts. The Meridian School District believes special education services for the county's high needs special education students are best served by all school districts participating actively in the cooperative.  The Meridian District also desires a meaningful relationship with the Byron School District in addition to those as part of OCEC.  The resolution is intended to clearly communicate the School Board's position on establishing meaningful, productive and collaborative programming for students among Ogle County school districts.
