Board Hosts Fourth Community Focus Group Session
30 Community Members Particpate to Discuss Transportation
October 29, 2009
On Wednesday, October 28th the Meridian School Board conducted its fourth community focus group session at Stillman Valley High School. The purpose of the session was to solicit feedback from community members regarding their perspective of school district's transportation department to assist in determining improvement activities. During the first part of the session, Superintendent Bob Prusator reviewed information relating to the District's transportation program. Following that, the community members were randomly divided into seven small groups and asked to answer three questions: 1) What has gone well with transportation (What have you liked); 2) What has not gone well with transportation (What issues/concerns do you have)?; and 3) What suggestions do you have to improve transportation? A Meridian School Board member was assigned to each group to listen to community member responses. The small group sessions lasted one hour and were facilitated by Meridian CUSD #223 administrators. During the last part of the session each of the small groups shared their top 5 discussion topics with the entire group in the SVHS multi-purpose room. The focus group session ended just before 9:00 p.m. Within two weeks all comments made in each group will be sent to focus group participants and will also be posted on the District's web page.
The Meridian School Board is committed to utilizing the community focus group format to engage the community to improve the operation of the school district for students. The Board appreciates the time and level of sharing that community members provided at this session.
