Million Word Readers

Welcome to Meridian Jr. High School Library Page

Ms. Hong - MJHS Librarian

MJHS students who qualified for a Library VIP card 4th quarter of last year (therefore, earning it for first quarter this year.) The cards are very challenging to earn (100 AR points PER QUARTER and achieved Classic Reader Status in Renaissance (There are specifics, but basically 3 of the books they read must be a high reading level and long. ) These VIP card holders have special privileges in the library, some of which are.... first access to new books, moved to the top of any holds lists, and can check out more than one Caudill at a time.

Percentage of yearly reading goals met as of 4-5-2019:

6th Grade: 57,841,684 words read = 81% (Yearly Goal = 71 million)

7th Grade: 69,088,827 words read = 73% (Yearly Goal = 94 million)

8th Grade: 60,389,870 words read = 66% (Yearly Goal = 92 million)

New Websites to Visit:

Fantastic Fiction - This is a great site for looking up fiction titles, and finding the order of series books.  The site has the visual covers of the book and summaries about the books.  www.fantasticfiction.com

Scholastic Book Wizard - The Scholastic site has LOTS of great book-related features, but one of the most unique is the BOOK WIZARD which allows you to find books "similar to" a book you have enjoyed.  To use the book wizard folow this thread:  Book Wizard - Similar Books - (Enter the title of your favorite book) - Click Find Similar books - Click "Match this Book" to choose the correct one - Scroll through the list - Add to book-list if they look promising.  www.Scholastic.com

Checkouts are for 2 weeks and you can have up to 3 books.

Fines are 5 cents per day with 3 day grace period.
