For the Week of February 6, 2012
ALL STUDENTS: February is the month for practicing being helpful. When you see someone struggling with a large stack of books, do you offer to help? Do you hold the door for others behind you? If so, you are probably a helpful person. The teachers are looking for the character trait helpful for the month of February.
SPELLING BEE: The MJHS Spelling Bee will be held Wednesday, February 8th in Room 214 (Mrs. Stewart). If you are interested in competing, please sign up in the office and pick up the information by Tuesday, February 7th. Good Luck.
BIRD BUCKS: Have you earned any bird bucks? There is still time to get caught being GREAT! Use them in the new and improved BIRD BUCK STORE. The store will be open every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month if there is school.
BOX TOPS CONTEST: Do you like the taste of freshly baked donuts? Do you enjoy the warmth of a nice creamy hot chocolate? These tasty treats could be yours if your FIRST PERIOD CLASS wins the BATTLE OF THE BOXTOPS!!! Please bring in all your box tops from cereal boxes and other food items. Your FIRST PERIOD teacher has the collection envelope. The envelopes will be collected and counted each Friday and we will let you know which classes are in the lead for collecting the most box tops. The contest will run through February 17. The FIRST PERIOD CLASS who brings in the most box tops will get donuts and hot chocolate. Your teacher will also get to display the ULTIMATE BOX TOPS traveling trophy. This contest supports the MJHS library.
LIBRARY: The library is open to all students. Make sure you are returning or renewing your books on time so you don't have to pay a fine. Remember to bring your box tops in to the library.
GLITTER HEADBANDS: The MJHS Volleyball team is selling glitter headbands. NOW ALL HEADBANDS ARE $5.00 Solid colors available: red, pink, teal, lime green and red & black zebra. Please see Mrs. Gale to purchase one.
NOTES FROM THE NURSE: Please continue to reinforce the 3 C's: CLEAN, COVER, & CONTAIN.
CLEAN your hands often using soap and water or hand sanitizer.
COVER your coughs & sneezes with tissue or use your sleeve if no tissue is available.
CONTAIN germs by staying home if you are sick. You should stay home at least 24 hours after being fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medicines.
Let's stay healthy through this cold & flu season!
Coca Cola Rewards: If you collect coca cola points, please donate them to MJHS. Click Here to Find Out How to Donate Points to MJHS A HUGE THANK YOU to all that donated or brought in points to MJHS. Check out the bulletin board in the front entry way that was purchased with reward points. See Mrs. Gale with any questions.
Student Council: Meetings will be held every Tuesday at 7:25 unless told otherwise by Mrs. Timm.
Lunch Balance: Please make sure your lunch balances are in the positive for this year.
PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System) Reminders: Students can only use cell phones and wear hats after school hours. Also, gum can only be chewed outside of school not in the building. Cell phones need to be turned off and put away as soon as you enter the building. If you have any questions about the PBIS reminders, please contact a teacher.
